After reading the reviews, it turned out that the gate was very easy to set up. The instructions are also very simple and clear. Others who have had the same setup (top stair railing on one side, baseboard wall on the other) have suggested using shims to align the gate to the wall (so there is no problem with the baseboard) and it works Well. However, it looks like the gate actually already has adjustments for this gap, which is handy, but we didn't notice them until we screwed on the shims. Our railings are also very odd as the flat parts are squeezed by the round parts. Therefore, affection could not exceed a very specific level. It seemed to fit the bill - for starters, it actually fits! And work! It's a win considering how many goals we had to try. This model was very versatile and is a good option for those who need a custom gate for a very specific fit. The door opens and closes easily and holds the weight well.
