Review on Winco PLW CK Cover For PLW 7K by Eddie Pollard

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Tough but Smelly in Differential Covers

This Winco PLW-CK cover and matching Winco PLW-7k bus block (sold separately) are built to withstand heavy use, that's for sure. They should last a long time and withstand some abuse. Lids allow boxes to be stacked on multiple levels. Lids fit well. They're not airtight, but I believe they keep out light and dust, which is all I really need. I plan to use them as hydroponic grow tanks with plants on the lids and I think they will work well for that purpose. While no UV protection is listed they should have some UV resistance as I assume it is carbon black as the dye. These boxes are made in China and carry a Proposition 65 warning — I don't know what for. Because they are made of polypropylene, they cannot contain BPA. Maybe phthalates? Or maybe the manufacturer just put those stickers on as a legal precaution. In any case, I'm not happy with the Prop 65 warning. Next time I'll look for US made crates. (For example, the Winco PL-7k and PL-57k lids must be made in the USA) These boxes and lids had a strong chemical odor when I received them, which faded somewhat after airing them in the sun a few times. weeks.
