EVO II first drone! 30 Day Review

This is the first drone I've ever bought and the first I've ever flown. I'm writing this review after 30 days of owning the Autel EVO II. I was amazed by the fact that it does everything I've read about. The instructions were clear. If I had any questions there was always someone to speak to on the 24/7 customer service line, 7 days a week, after hours and weekends! Flight operations are technically a bit complex, but the learning curve is easy! With each flight I took the drone to the next level to test not only my piloting skills but also the capabilities of the drone. I was very concerned that the $2,000 drone would suddenly take off, never return, or have a devastating failure. . . . . It never happened! My final test was to turn off the transmitter control mid-flight to see what would happen. . . . Sounds silly, but since the drone was on a mission over a mile away, I turned off the transmitter. I waited in silence. . . . Nothing . . . . I was about to go inside when I suddenly heard the sound of a drone. He was about 300 feet away and out of sight but returning to where he started! He landed without our help and the engines died. STRUCK! Autel Robotics claims a 5-mile range, but based on my testing, that's not entirely true. If the drone loses signal while flying in camera mode, it will return home, which is good, NOT LOST DRONE! When flying in "Mission" mode, the drone will complete as many missions as the battery charge will allow and still return home safely (at least in my tests). Image and video quality is exceptional and the drone is stable in wind speeds of 5 to 9 mph. Initial setup of the drone was easy and there are multiple options for flight safety and visual flight. Several software updates have been made, but this is to be expected from any company that continues to update their products. Overall, as a first-time buyer and drone pilot, I am VERY satisfied. The price of the Autel EVO II is a bit steep, but compared to the drones I've seen, they fly away. . . . . then I would say that you get one damn good drone for the price of two or more cheaper ones. Would I buy it again? yesI DO NOT RECOMMEND this as a children's toyI recommend this to others? Yes
