I bought this for dog walking in 2 scenarios. 1 I have a very small dog and I get so annoyed when off-leash dogs are around. Normally I wouldn't mind, but in my area they don't control their dogs and we were aggressively harassed on a number of occasions. If one of these dogs comes to me, he will be missed because he is so small. With them, if the dog gets too interested, I can give a loud signal and shoo them away quickly and painlessly (well, except for my bad ears, haha). It's very loud and does its job perfectly. I also walk the dogs at the shelter and if 2 dogs go off the leash and get into a fight I think that would end a lot of dog fights as well. They're a little fragile, but not that bad. I didn't actually have any tears even after tossing them in an apron pocket but they are a little flimsy and of course the balloon-like material is delicate which is to be expected. But I don't mind the cost at all
