I love Epson products because they keep updating their software to keep up with OS changes. Many printer and scanner manufacturers seem to be moving away from the model you buy and letting you dry. The most important thing to do BEFORE installing (especially if you're using a 3rd party firewall - mine is AVG) is to disable it before starting the software installation. I didn't do this and AVG didn't show me any warning messages, it just prevented the scanner software from searching the internet for firmware updates and installing them. Once I disabled AVG, the process went smoothly and I started scanning in no time. The scanner is QUIET and the Scanner Pro 2 software is easy to operate from the Windows taskbar with a right-click.
