Review on TETON SPORTS Model Hunter Green by John Springer

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great set for the price but missing a few really important features.

I confess: It was a small spontaneous purchase. I needed (well, wanted) a backpack that would do short to medium trips with an all-around size, but I wasn't willing to shell out $275 or more. Log into Teton Scout. Although it was an impulse buy, I did my due diligence by checking expert and user reviews on multiple websites and found that in almost all cases the conclusion was that it's not the best backpack, but it is the best package for the price. And so, without even trying, I clicked on it before a recent trip. I do not regret it. It's a solid backpack that's pleasantly comfortable and versatile, and it's quite simply a steal. Pros: * Sturdy construction. Some people have reported issues with bad stitching, loose clips, faulty zippers, and other things. As soon as the bag arrived I inspected it carefully and all stitching, straps, zippers, clips etc are secure and secure. * The backpack is very comfortable. Adjustable torso length makes it highly customizable, while thick pads on the shoulders and hips reduce stress. Add forklifts to the top and a couple of waist straps, and this bag can be fine-tuned to make a three-day trip of 20+ miles of hiking pretty easy. Packing strategically enough means you'll have more than enough room for a 3-day trip, packing groceries, utensils, a stove, miscellaneous clothing items, a tent, a bag and small items. The side pockets are extra large and the two upper flap pockets offer additional storage space. :* Sleeping bag compartment not suitable. The declared volume is 5 liters with dimensions 14x8x8, but in reality it is not. Not to mention how few sleeping bags (other than ultralight warm sleeping bags) can be compressed to this size, the opening in the compartment does not fit these dimensions: you have to compress the bag to 10 x 6 x 6 to slide it in. .*While all zips are strong and work properly, the oddly curved opening for the side pockets and sleeping bag compartment means that using the zips can be awkward and awkward. Special tip: Rub candle wax on the zipper teeth to make them move more easily.* There are no other outer pockets apart from the two side pockets. Instead of a front pocket, there is a very small mesh mount that doesn't really lend itself to anything larger. * The water bottle holders on the waist are quite small. Take the opportunity to tie something (such as a pillow) to the top. * It is heavy at almost 5 pounds. Unless you're doing long hikes this probably isn't an issue, but counting every gram means sacrificing something else to cover the extra weight of the bag. Deformity: * No side compression straps. Not only is this confusing, but it makes a difference when you have a loosely packed bag. Compression straps work wonders for keeping things in place and keeping things still. The lack of side compression straps just doesn't make sense.* Other than two very small diameter elastics for tents/poles on the side and two loops on the bottom that can be used to attach a sleeping bag or tent, there's little lack of room on the Packaging to put anything on the outside, which forces me to be creative when modding. There is some garland of sorts, but it's negligible, and the bungee straps at the flap and front are utterly useless for anything other than a lightweight jacket. * No pockets on the hip belt! How is that possible? The small pockets on the waist belt are incredibly handy for storing quick-access items like a compass, knife, phone or a quick snack. Instead, I had to grab a few extra pouches and attach them to my belt. They only cost about $5, but still. In short, my experience with the Scout aligns with reviews on outdoor gear sites: it's a package with limitations ranging from minor to annoying if you need/want what it lacks. But the materials are very strong, the workmanship is solid and the backpack is really comfortable and versatile. In addition, it is very affordable. It's impossible to find a better package for less than $100. It can be difficult to find a better option for less than $175.
