I ordered one of these probes and probe sets in June. Then I broke my leg and the project of installing a native transmitter and gauge into my old Searay project dragged on. When I went about installing them 5 weeks later, I found that what was supplied was basically the same transmitter as pictured, set up for 4_24" deep tanks, but the transmitter configuration was very different from that unit shown. The package included instructions for the sender how to set the depth but there are no instructions on how to connect a transducer or how to connect a transducer and a transmitter and both. The gauge and wiring (all 4 wires) to where they seemed to go. I turned on the gauges (I had a full tank in the tank), the gauge read 1/2 to 3/4 full. I assumed I had misadjusted the float so I removed the sensor, to check it. With the transmitter in hand, still connected to the sensor, I moved the lever to the full and empty position. The sensor refused to move to the full position. It mus It's something I'm doing wrong, I tried using an 18g cable, it connected to 16g, the distance is only about 5 feet. No joy, the scale was still not fully legible. I contacted Møller via email and customer service said I had a bad sender and should send it back to Revain. As usual, Revain processed the return and immediately sent a new caliber/transmitter. As soon as the new package ate the Vedas, I changed the sender and caliber to a new one. I was disappointed to find that the new sensor and transmitter did exactly what it needed to. I contacted Møller again and told the story again. Use of swme email thread since first contact with Møller. Saying that I was frustrated by the customer service's apparent lack of knowledge of their products and their inability to remember the simple things that were in the email about the solutions I tried. Finally, I suggested that they forward my emails to their QA department. The fact that Möller might have a batch of inferior sensors or gauges didn't occur to tech support. At this point the deck on my boat was cut open for a long time to access the fuel tank and it cost about $35. The faulty transmitter and caliber became secondary to my desire to fix the deck and move on. I figured I could spend significantly more to buy a taller level sensor, or just be content with letting me know when I'm down to half a tank and in need of a refill. Then inspiration hit me and I decided to try different combinations of wires and fittings. with soder and/or creams. No matter what I tried, the unit stayed wrong. As I put the sensor back on the dashboard and admitted my defeat, I began to wonder about the two floor sensors. One ground is connected to the boat ground and the other to the transmitter ground. Just to see what happens I put a short jumper between the two ground connections on the back of the fuel gauge. When I turned on the device, the sensor jumped to F, full. To be on the safe side, I removed the transmitter again and swung the float lever from full to empty and the display reads correctly. Obviously something was misunderstood somewhere in the production process, oops. Unfortunately, Moeller doesn't seem to care. I gave them 2 stars. just because I fixed it and didn't throw it in the bay.
