I use it to blow warm air around my hands when I'm sitting at my desk in my home office and it definitely keeps me warm around the house a few degrees colder than I otherwise need. It looks like that's how people use it. However, look at the design and notice that the metal grille, which protrudes slightly from the plastic frame, is very, very close to the heating element inside. It's very easy to accidentally touch metal with your hand, and it's *hot*. Also note that there are usually documents on the tables. I usually keep my desk clean, but I definitely see it as a fire hazard for someone with a different organizational style. Be very careful and keep everything flammable/combustible/fusible away from it when it is on. This is more difficult than using a regular heater as it needs to be this close to me to be effective.
