These are the 10-12 gauge wire strippers you need.

These are the correct wire strippers for 10 and 12 gauge stranded and copper wire. I am very happy that I finally bought the right tool. I've struggled with side cutters that don't easily cut hard wire or romex. I've used hard self-pulling wire strippers for small gauge wire and they're fine, but not for large AC wire. I have sharp wire cutters and usually struggle with them. I have two pairs of crappy wire strippers from my dad's collection, with a lock nut that can be adjusted to strip the wire but not cut it: they never work properly for long periods of time. project and I'm so glad I got them before I rewired, used an EMT cable and installed a 100 amp panel in my shed. Otherwise I'd still be working on the first circuit and swearing at how awkward it is to strip the insulation.
