Smells like a nasty spice

I've used wooden-handled horsehair brushes to clean my square pitchers for years. They are really good at removing ice tea stains on glass. I thought I'd try. When I used it for the first time, I smelled a spicy odor and it was not comfortable for me. So I scrubbed it with different products (some castile soap, lemon juice, vinegar, finally bleach) but the smell didn't go away. I even tried washing a lot of different things with it, but the smell only got worse (like the armpit smell of a person who eats spicy food and doesn't use deodorant, to be honest - if you like that smell, maybe I like ). Back to horse hair for me.

Pros
  • Vegan Sisal Hemp Bristles are extra strong bristles that keep their shape and structure and remove stubborn smoothie or coffee stains. Contains no animal products such as horsehair bristles which tarnish over time and are not ethically sourced. Ideal for wide-mouth bottles
Cons
  • Out of fashion
