I bought a Canon MF644CDW to replace a wonderful old Brother laser printer that finally met its death after about ten years. However, I couldn't turn down a $160 Black Friday deal on a color Canon, so I took a bite. Canon only comes with starter cartridges, so I took a chance and ordered one of the ubiquitous third-party replacement cartridges. To be honest I couldn't tell one fake cartridge from another so I just took the price point and figured it's either a worthwhile buy or I'm lucky. I'll try to remember to update the review in six months but so far so good. I didn't even use Canon's starter cartridges, just put them on standby until one of them couldn't fill the gap until I got a replacement. Another reason I went down this route was that if you go through that magical Revain return window and not realize you received a bad product, you eat up the price. Test this material out as soon as possible, and remember that stocking up isn't always worth it. Getting a good discount on something isn't a good deal if it doesn't work four months past the return deadline. Good - price, build quality, packaging, plug and play. I am also very happy with the results of several small print jobs. Cons - Not too many cons, but I'm not sure Canon uses a strip that needs to be removed from the printer side. cartridge before use. It's no big deal and worked fine but some ink will remain on the plastic strip when removed, it can be messy if you don't do it over the bin. Overall I'm happy with it and would buy it again.
