I have been knitting for many years but have never knitted anything as unusual as these inventive critters. Here is my take on this book: FOR: 1. I have never seen such a fantasy in action. And when I think how difficult it is to turn these creative patterns into patterns that regular knitters can follow, I really admire Hansi's skills.2. There is much to learn in these patterns that even an experienced knitter will find rewarding and challenging.3. Hansi has included an excellent explanation of stitches and techniques at the beginning of the book. Be sure to read this part before you begin. CONS: 1. Hansi knits Continental style, so not all stitches are suitable for American knitters. Since I won't be learning any other knitting style, I had to adjust some of the increases to fit my knitting style.2. While these are amazingly detailed templates, some of the instructions fall short. I had to learn to decipher their particular style of instructions. All in all an amazing book! Suitable for all ages, these knitted animals will entertain knitters with amazing results (see my red anglers in the pictures). By the way, Hansi has a new pattern for chameleons. Haven't tried it yet, but it looks complicated. Highly recommended!
