Review on U.S. Art Supply 35 Piece Calligraphy Pen Writing Set: Interchangeable Nibs, Paper Pad & Instructions for Beginners by Nicole Mcleod

Not for serious calligraphy

Umm. So I was excited about this set. But when I opened it, my excitement quickly evaporated. It's a very cheap feel. I have steadier grips on the dollar tree. The textbook consists of three pages and does not teach anything. The textbook is tiny and again teaches nothing. They're just blank pages with a grid on them. Check out Pinterest or YouTube to learn how to write how-to-write guides. The small filters fit easily into the nibs, but if you want a different color in the same size, removing the old color can be excruciatingly a hassle. Even with a little ink pickup tool (which sucks btw). The instructions don't even explain the tool or anything other than "Insert the tube into the pen and connect the pieces together. Start writing." I'm paraphrasing, but you get the idea. The nibs don't control flow properly either, and there's no way to get them to alternate letter widths properly. Regardless of the angle or turning point. So don't expect beautiful calligraphy unless you want to create fake ligraphy. In general. I would not recommend it to anyone who is serious about learning or practicing calligraphy. But maybe for a 9-12 year old who isn't serious but wants to play the way he does.
