The Caligriphy pen did not write properly and the pens leaked a lot when the ink and/or failed after a few minutes of use. If the ink tube is removed to prevent dried ink from collecting at the tip, the ink tubes will dry out. It's not possible to re-seal ink tubes if necessary, and the instructions for putting ink into a clear tube aren't very clear.

Fountain pens usually come with ink that you need to use. These inks are not very good and the ink bleeds even through high quality paper. The pens themselves are comfortable to hold and have a nice tip size for everyday use, but due to the quality of the ink I don't use them at all. I've used ink in other pens and they seem to work, leading me to believe the combination isn't great.

Maybe I overestimated my expectations. This set contains feathers of different sizes, from very wide to very thin. You, or at least I, can't tell them apart. They all write broadly and leave stains and puddles of ink. I have a dozen fountain pens and use them for everyday use. I thought I wanted to learn calligraphy. But after the shortest instruction manual I've ever seen and the poor customer service I received, I just decided to stick with my usual brand and forget about the calligraphy…

This is NOT for beginners! There is only one style of calligraphy in the book that comes with the set and it doesn't even show you which stroke should be done first, it just shows you what the alphabet should look like. It doesn't even feature the type of Clygrophy depicted on the cover of the book. All handles are plastic and it may take some time for the handles to start working. Umm. So I was excited about this set. But when I opened it, my excitement quickly evaporated. It's a very cheap feel. I have steadier grips on the dollar tree. The textbook consists of three pages and does not teach anything. The textbook is tiny and again teaches nothing. They're just blank pages with a grid on them.
