I needed to install an IDE drive from my previous computer on my new one which only has SATA. I installed this controller adapter card into an available PCI-X slot, connected the included ribbon cable to the IDE drive (it was barely long enough), and powered the drive with a Manhattan, 6" SATA 15-pin to dual. Molex Female 4-pin Y-hub, adapter cable 308977. Now when the computer boots up, after the main BIOS screen, a brief BIOS screen will appear showing the drives attached to the card. One drive is attached but the controller board and adapter cable will work with two.The instructions say one drive has to be the master and one the slave so I'm not sure how this will work if my primary sata drive is the master. In any case, the whole process was painless , as far as I can tell, the data transfer speed is not reduced in any way by the controller card.
