Worked great - no problems

I needed to install an IDE drive from my previous computer on my new one which only has SATA. I installed this controller adapter card into an available PCI-X slot, connected the included ribbon cable to the IDE drive (it was barely long enough), and powered the drive with a Manhattan, 6" SATA 15-pin to dual. Molex Female 4-pin Y-hub, adapter cable 308977. Now when the computer boots up, after the main BIOS screen, a brief BIOS screen will appear showing the drives attached to the card. One…

Suitable for adding more hard drives to a RAID Btrfs

Works great on Linux defined as "IDE Controller JMicron Technology Corp." JMB368" and when the PC boots up this is the first thing you see on the screen see the bios of this controller I had a couple of spare IDE/PATA drives taking up drawer space, a slightly newer WD3200AAJB and a 10 year old ST3160023A but they worked before so I just plugged them in the Jumpered accordingly and grabbed an old 80 wire cable and that was it They are now running as part of a btrfs RAID 1 with a pair of WD Red…

Simplicity - almost plug and play

When plugged in, Win XP recognized a new IDE controller. Plugged into a new PATA drive (SATA on this machine), XP requested the manufacturer's driver (the CD came with the card) and installed it. I formatted the drive and then - in about 25 minutes - cloned over 20GB of data from the SATA drive. I'd say it offers ample speed and was certainly easy enough to walk on. (Running the same clone on a pure PATA machine with both drives on the same controller took almost an hour.) There is so much…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options

The included IDE cable is a little short (18 ")

Finished running Windows 10 system with which I wanted to reuse two old IDE optical drives: DVD-ROM and DVD-RW. Replacing two Vantec IDE to SATA adapters that somehow work individually, but not both at the same time. However, the supplied IDE cable is only 18" suitable for connection to an IDE hard drive, which is usually deeper in the case, i.e. closer to the expansion slots but is too short for the ODD which is on the top of the case so I had to buy a 30" IDE cable separately.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Poorly thought out

Reliable product Suitable for computer components

This StarTech PCI Express 1-port IDE controller is what all computer components should be - inexpensive, simple and 100 percent reliable. I needed this, got it from Revain (great!), just a minute to install and I'm good to go. It even came with a ribbon cable, which I wasn't expecting and already had in the attic. I used it for a DVD-RAM cartridge drive.

it's slow on computer components

I bought this card to connect a pair of PATA Plextor drives to my modern archiving PC. Initially I had some boot issues but I solved it by disabling all boot options in UEFI. It doesn't support cable selection and only works if you set the drives as master/slave. It's also very slow, despite the specs saying it supports ATA100 and drives with DMA 2 and DMA 4 and DMA enabled in Device Manager, it's still PIO speed limited. The instructions are poor and could be much better, I think the drivers…

Works great with my IDE optical drives!

I bought the PEX2IDE after not being able to use any other controller card with the Marvell 88SE912x chipset. I wanted to use an old BenQ DD DW1650 CD/DVD recorder in my Haswell Z87 (i7-4770k) system to check the disc burning quality, but IDE controllers are long gone from motherboards. Unfortunately, the IDE channel on the Marvell chipset that I first tried didn't work well with the BenQ drive. Other than the controller card that didn't work, StarTech PEX2IDE uses the JMB368 chipset. PEX2IDE…
