A very sharp carving burr that I use to mark the first cut along a pattern and line. When I first started woodworking I used a cheap router that worked fine and eventually switched to Freud until I started hearing Whiteside more often on some woodworking forums. Some of the pieces seemed a bit overpriced but as soon as I tried one of their pieces I was hooked. I use a Bosch Colt and full size plunge router, and Whiteside is my go-to for all my router bits. I still have bits from Freud and no-name brands, but when I need a quality finish with a smooth surface, Whiteside calls me. This whiteside liner carving cutter was needed for small marks and initial engraving along a thin line. It is VERY sharp and cuts so smoothly that it is very easy to predict where the cut will be made. Cutting curved lines/marks was a breeze and while this type of work is nicer and slower I am very happy to invest in this brand. If you are looking for quality, Whiteside is definitely for you. j. If you're weekend carpenter for the occasion, other brands are probably more than enough.
