Safety issues with stackable blocks

PROS: - Classic wooden blocks - Durable - Comes with container CONS: - Too few blocks (and not enough useful large pieces) to really build much - Very sloping blocks sharp on the edge . Not suitable for small children or infants. The blocks are generally very hard and very heavy. Young children must be closely supervised to avoid injury and/or damage to your home. A thrown block easily breaks a window, lamp, teeth, or injures an eye. Tipping a stack of blocks can also cause injury and is exceptionally noisy. You will be amazed at the number of times your kids use these blocks in inappropriate or dangerous ways. A crate can also pose a safety risk. We ended up not using the beautiful and seemingly convenient wooden crate that the blocks came in because we've had a few instances where our little ones have tripped, fallen and almost hit their heads on it. The box looks handy, but it's actually more cumbersome than it actually is. Costs. In addition to the safety issue mentioned above, most toddlers and some young children find it difficult to put the bricks back in the box in such a way that the bricks actually fit in the box. By the time our kids figured out the correct way to fit the blocks in the box, they were too old to play with them. So if you don't want to be constantly helping your child put them back in the crate, you can throw those rocks out or get a larger container. Also, the box is so heavy (with or without blocks) that it's difficult for children to move it from one place to another or to put it away when they're done. We ended up tucking it under a chair or sofa so they could just pull it out when they wanted to use it. But even sliding on it can be too difficult for some babies.
