I scanned a lot of printed photos for a website I work on and used a smaller one that only did 4 x 6 photos and did a reliable job. I can scan photos in the evening while watching TV. Pros: Portable, fast, decent image quality. Cons: Battery life is a bit short and I've had occasional luck trying to connect to the USB power cable. Also, a micro SD card is a small extra step to installing a reader adapter into a computer - my laptop only has 2 USB 3 ports, so using the SD card slot is usually the easiest (yes, I have one USB 3 port 4 and I have a USB 3 card reader with a micro SD slot, but sometimes it's easiest to use the SD card slot). Overall I am very happy with this device and will soon start scanning all my old family photos. I highly recommend Lightroom for making basic bulk adjustments to scanned photos; especially when they are old and the color has faded.
