These replacement caps are much better made than the GM Original Equipment caps. The original GM caps I had only have a very thin plastic loop on just one half of the cap for the metal ring to attach to. It's a thin piece that easily cracks and breaks after sufficient wear and use, so buy these as spares. These new ones have significantly thicker/stronger loops and with a loop on each half creating two thicker loops for attaching the metal ring. This makes it much stronger and more durable than the original. Everything fits perfectly, just be sure to install the included metal battery clip with the tab facing up like the original and the positive side of the coin cell battery facing down. I suggest using tweezers to insert the metal clip into the socket as it is small. Insert the circuit board into the rubber FIRST and then place this assembly into the top cap while the circuit board stretches the rubber outward for a snug fit at the edges of the top cap (half buttonhole). This step is important! Otherwise there will be a struggle to bring them together. The problems that others have mentioned about it are probably due to how they put it together? I had no problems and if you do it the way I described above you should have no problems getting the halves to snap and stay closed. I highly recommend this set of replacement caps!
