Review on UGREEN USB 3.0 to SATA IDE Hard Drive Cable Adapter Converter for 2.5-inch & 3.5-inch IDE External SATA HDD SSD with 12V 2A Power Adapter and USB 3.0 Cable – Ideal for Laptops by Paarvin Freedman

Revainrating 5 out of 5

NOT compatible with large drives as stated by the manufacturer.

Review Summary: Annoying machine, manufacturer display of 6TB drive support is incorrect. It seems to support some drives up to 2TB and some up to 4TB. This product is not worth your time. Below is my original review. This unit did indeed corrupt the 2 drives I plugged it into - they had nothing major on them, but what worries me is that I can't figure out why it corrupted them. found none of them larger than 1.5 TB. It doesn't appear to be compatible with drives larger than 1.5TB, although 6TB compatibility is claimed. Every other hard drive adapter I've ever bought worked great right out of the box - no big deal. To complicate things further, I've found references for 6TB on Revain and 4TB on the ugreen website, neither of which seem correct, at least for WD drives. This one gets 1 run for crashing on multiple drives and fuzzy information about a key spec. Also, it uses a standard A to standard A USB connector. This is certainly legal according to the USB 3.1 specification, but by far the most unusual. Cable - unlikely anyone has this cable and the quality of the cable isn't very good - It doesn't conform to the standard USB 3.1 label which indicates it's not USB certified - If the cable is then causing problems (which is probably due to a poor quality ultra-fast cable), you need to look for the most unusual combination of cable ends. Poorly designed product - Not USB certified - Not recommended. I've looked at a few more products from this company and it seems there isn't a single mention of USB certification on the website - that doesn't bode well for any of their products.
