No, that's not an option. Paper bags are a proven solution. They cool down quickly, hold popcorn, and do their job well. Another thing that is true and known about microwavable paper bags (or paper in general) is that it's a TERRIBLE IDEA! This paper bag trick will work fine until one day (actually it took me twice to teach myself) the core gets stuck in the corner and the bag catches fire. Trust me, a flame isn't something you want to see in your microwave oven. Enter that bad boy. This thing is made of silicone, which means it can withstand heat but cools down quickly. The lid is on the inside to cover the beating chamber and the bottom of the bowl is concave to hold the beans together so they pop evenly. As a result, I can pop a quarter cup of popcorn in under two minutes without a single unexploded kernel. The popcorn is nice and fluffy, I don't have to use any oil and it doesn't have the papery taste of a popper. I couldn't be happier.
