I thought our fan was the problem. The new batteries in our remote didn't make it any better, so I figured our fan was the problem. I wanted to buy a new fan and pay someone to install it. A new ceiling fan was installed, and suddenly our fan and lights started going on and off like they were possessed. When we found that the remote control from my neighbor's new fan was also controlling our fan, it was clear that the receiver on our fan was fine. So I ordered this remote control and suddenly our fan works great! Our fan doesn't have a cord switch or pull chains, so the only option was a working remote control. So everything is fine at home now. My neighbor's remote still turns the lights and fan on and off, but I bet our remote does the same for hers. By the way, this situation can be corrected with the possessed fan. We both set the switches on the remotes the same way. Let's see which one of us will give up first and change the code.
