I first tested it on my bedroom carpet which was a big mistake. Even though my bedroom has a separate air conditioner and I closed the door to my bedroom, the smell of this product spread throughout the house. I swept it up, tossed the container with the brush in the trash can outside, and rinsed the filters. The strong smell only intensified throughout my house. The smell is not unpleasant and is more reminiscent of strongly scented baby powder, but too strong and I'm not sensitive to the smell. Before I could sleep that night, I had to turn on two large fans for several hours, drawing in air from other parts of the house to try to calm the smell enough for me to sleep. After 3 days the smell has subsided but daily airing with large fans is required to get rid of the smell. The rest of this product is sent to the trash can. I'm sticking with baking soda from now on as it was a waste of time and money.
