I bought this unit because I read a lot of reviews about "best wifi routers of 2020β etc that Nest Wifi was at or near the top. I wanted it to get an updated router as my trusty Asus is a bit dated. I use it equally for Wi-Fi and wired LAN connections (for my work laptop, home computer, Apple TV). Upon receipt I followed the simple setup instructions and Shazam was up and running in no time. I was blown away by the Wi-Fi speed - nearly 200 Mbps, which is the fastest I get from my Comcast cable modem. But I got a nasty shock when I connected the LAN cable to my Netgear gigabit switch and then to my devices. The speed crept from a minimum of 2 Mbit/s to a maximum of 9 Mbit/s. What. Tried different configurations, tried directly without switch, tried different cables - same result. Went back to my Asus and it immediately went back to normal speed. Why? After searching Google for wired issues, I quickly realized that this is a common complaint. Low LAN speed. I have to say I'm surprised. I thoroughly tested this product using Google's tech wizard, not to mention this huge difference in speed. My question is if the difference in speed is so noticeable why offer the LAN option at all, this will only annoy people like me. I come back.
