This mat does exactly what I bought it for. I got it because this little cat nerd loves to scratch a piece of furniture in the morning when he decides the alarm clock is late or when he's bored. So he goes to the same place, scratches, wakes me up and I yell at him and then I can't go back to sleep. So I laid the mat down, turned it down to the lowest setting and tested it myself to make sure the feeling was tolerable. It was. A good alarm gives many warnings. And imagine it worked. After daring to climb on the carpet, he heard the sound and felt the feeling of not scratching the furniture anymore. However, I'm deducting a star because when he REALLY dared to climb the rug for the first time and it exploded, the aforementioned cat booby flew off the pillow and onto the bed, using my grunions as a mini hobo as he walked across the bed on the other side of the house. It's a shame. Since then he spends a lot of time looking at me and sharpening his claws. But at least he does it on his scratching post.
