I already have a light cream curtain on the window and standard rental blinds behind it, but we had to black it out These layers blocked the light at all Not. I went with the old style as it was cheaper and went for the black one as it has the best blocking ability (according to my research). This is fantastic! I put it on right away and last night it was very dark in the room - just the edges but before that we had a blanket and the edges were too - so it doesn't matter much to us. I took this photo at 2pm on a winter day with blue skies. As you can see, it blocks really well! (He is behind a light curtain). It was the cheapest option I could find to black out this window and its non-toxicity was a HUGE plus. Very satisfied and to be recommended.
