I don't consider myself a noob in this regard. I'm pretty good at connecting LED strips together by soldering. It takes a little while and I was hoping it would speed up the process. I connected two sets of waterproof LED strips together. I did my usual trimming as best I could and hooked up a welder and the only thing that worked after a few tweaks and cutting and cleaning was I could just get the LED strips to turn blue. After playing with it for 2 hours I went and just soldered it together using my usual method and it worked fine. So I don't know if the pins in the connector are long enough or what. I understand they will be very light with the non-waterproof type, but I am setting mine up for the outdoors. I don't know, I had high hopes
