Bought this card to replace 2 eSATA cards that had no driver support in Windows 10. Pros: Efficient in providing eSATA support for removable drives, multi-drive enclosures and docking stations, which is what I needed. Cons: 1. PC startup now includes a 30 second look at a legacy screen where the BIOS is looking for RAID drives that would never be there if this removable drive card was purchased. This 30 second handshake period is a "feature" and cannot be changed or removed by the card driver.2. Drives in enclosures or docking stations cannot be ejected through the Windows Remove Devices dialog. Instead, High Point offers a browser-based interface, managed by a local service, for this and other configuration functions (including muting the card beep when a drive is ejected or changing the password to log into a website). Best use: After a year of use, I happily removed the card from my PC and put it in my file server, where the "features" described make more sense than on my desktop PC. On my PC, I replaced the eSATA docking station and multi-drive enclosures with USB 3 interfaces (many of them already had both interfaces and just had to reconnect the cables and plug them into a different port on the PC). ). USB-3 met all multiplexing and distance requirements without penalties for the current generation of eSATA card implementation.
