I read the reviews on this device but decided to risk it anyway and I'm very glad I did. My goal is to include all my printed photos because I lost the negatives in the fire. I agree that there is an unwanted artifact with glossy prints, but if you stick with matte prints you should be fine. However, Cobra needs to work on the issue to see if they can fix it. Be careful not to place custom-sized prints in the holder. I thought I would never get a print out of the device if I fell out of the holder. The resolution is more than sufficient. It will never be as good as a real digital image, let alone a scanned negative image, but it won't be any worse either. Once you get the hang of it, it's amazingly quick. I go back to my flatbed scanner for unusually large and glossy photos, but this one is great for what I need.
