New to tube watercolour

Was weird getting used to using tubes instead of just a water coloring set, but after getting used to it I've found it much more enjoyable. I found the best way to use the tubes was to just put a dab of colour on a surface and then just get more colour when needed rather than trying to mix a bunch with water.Colour selection was a nice improvement, I had only used sets with a max of 8 colour choices before.Colour was also much more vibrant than what I had used before.

Poor Quality for my opinion

The watercolors drip and are not of the quality one would expect for the price. It was a gift and I am embarrassed I gave them.

I'm a beginner & really like this set

I'm a beginner & really like this set. They assembled a nice assortment of colors & the 2 brushes were a nice treat. Don't hesitate to order until you learn more about the quality of water color paints. I'm still learning.

  • The pan sizes may be too small for some artists, limiting their ability to mix or apply sufficient quantities

Oil paints are my usual medium but I wanted to try watercolors again (last time was in high school.) I thought the price was very good and the colors are very pigmented. I am happy with them and would buy from them again.

Good paint, HORRIBLE brushes

This is a very good set of watercolor paint. I am fairly new to watercolors so I only have this set and A Gansai Tambi pan set but I would say that these are superior to my other set. As a beginner, having the colors in a tube is way easier in terms of mixing and only using the amount you want.As far as the colors go, they appeared very vibrant and rich so I am happy with them.I would however, seriously suggest to anyone who gets this to immediately toss the brushes that it comes with. They are

Lovely paint set - my new review

Has all the colors I need comes in small tubes excellent paint pour just perfect. Will be ordering another set but oil based this time.

Definitely recommend

I've never used watercolor before and these were beautiful to me. Great product for someone who doesn't know anything The packaging may not be eco-friendly or sustainable, adding to the environmental impact.

Royal & Langnickel Watercolor Paint

Am enjoying using these watercolors. A nice range of colors. Easy to put one color on top of the next creating a third color that doesn't look muddy.

Great value on paints, brush sizes not given and were smaller than I thought.

The round brush is a number 4 and has a nice point. The flat brush is only 1/2 inch. No sizes were given on the box. that said, this is a great deal on student grade paints. you get a lot of tube colors and no other decent water paint sets can compete this price.

Royal and Langnickel vs Phoenix compared

I just compared Royal and Langnickel Essentials and the Phoenix Watercolor tube sets. Basically, the Phoenix set has pigment info wind lightfastness ratings, but these supposedly "completely lightfast” colors are very fugitive - meaning they WILL fade, or change color, or both. Sometimes even without sunlight. The Phoenix have metal tubes and the paint comes out thick and uniform, while the Royal tubes are plastic, the cap threads may slip/get damaged easily, and there is a weird brown watery…

Great, but came damaged.

I purchased this product for a friend and thought it looked great. When it arrived, I was disappointed to see the side of the package was ripped and torn open. All of the pieces were still inside though. I loved everything about it, and it would have been the perfect gift had it not been broken.
