The thermostat has a Set Screw to make initial rough temperature adjustment

Like many others, my fridge ran extremely cold after installing the thermostat. I had to set the control knob almost to the off position to get the correct temperature. I found out that all thermostats have a course adjustment Set Screw (See the hole in the first 1st photo. I adjusted the set screw a little over a half turn clockwise (warmer for the set screw). Now the temperature control knob is positioned near at the center (asterisk) mark.Unfortunately, the bracket the holds the control knob

It works but heavily out of calibration

The install was fine and pretty easy. Refrigerator seemed to be working normal again, but after a day or two, things started to freeze up. I placed a thermostat in the fridge for a while and it was reading below 25ยฐf when set at the mid range. I kept turning the dial warmer and warmer till I'm right at the edge of turing OFF the fridge and now I'm finally getting just about 36ยฐf. Basically no room for error. This isn't the only review stating how uncalibrated this unit is. I'd gladly accept aโ€ฆ

Not an exact replacement-impossible to mount.

This part was listed as a replacement for my model of Whirlpool refrigerator. It is not. The original part number 1123212 mounts by the left mounting slipping into a slot on the left side.The right side is stepped and has a clamp like a speed nut.The replacement part 2198202 works electrically but is impossible to mount because the left arm of the bracket is 1 inch too short and the right arm is both too short and is not stepped nor does it have the clamp.The part can be adapted by cutting offโ€ฆ

Worked as intended on my review.

The product had the correct part number but had a very different appearance from the OE part. That fact is it worked the fridge is cooling so I'll take at 1/10th the price.

Why pay 4 times the price?

Thankfully this was the issue on my Kenmore model ED5GVEXVD01.Symptoms: freezer wasnโ€™t keeping things frozen, wasted quite a bit of food. Fridge side would get warmish as well. If I rotated the temp control for the fridge higher to kick in the compressor itโ€™d work for a while but always would stop if I didnโ€™t do that.Used this part to replace original and all is well. This part saved an initial $65 from the OEM and possible a replacement fridge. Very glad I attempted this easy repair.There were
