Poor Quality in my review

I tried purchasing this because Bioquip closed all of their sales and I couldn't get a net in time. The netting is simply not the right material or long enough to capture bugs well. The handle will begin to spin once you've extended it a few times. I wouldn't purchase this again.

Pros
  • Toys & Games
Cons
  • May not be suitable for use in areas with limited insect or butterfly populations

Caught the catbird that got in my house. He is free now.

I had a bird get in my house and he wasn't heading toward the kitchen door where he came in. I ordered this and it came the next day and I caught him. Kissed him on the head and let him go. Thanks for being fast.

Pros
  • Great for frogs, butterflies and bugs!
Cons
  • May not be suitable for catching larger or aggressive insects

Life Saving Tool on my review.

I purchased this net and had it delivered within an hour so I could catch a sick bird and bring it to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. It was exactly what I needed, especially the ability to extend it all the way out so I could "sneak" up on the bird safely. I am glad I had this net, because I was able to rescue another bird a few months later and get it rehabilitated as well.

Pros
  • Used in the garden all summer for pest. Cabbage moths to grasshoppers.
Cons
  • May not be suitable for use in wet or damp areas

Frogs Beware best in my review

I bought this because I wanted to catch frogs with my son. Boy, did we catch a whopper. My son and I biked into the woods and parked by a creek. We spotted a green frog in the water and with one skillful swoop of this magnificent net, I captured him on my first try. My son said he wanted a turn, but I knew he wasn't going to do it right so I just held onto the net. I spotted another frog. Caught that guy, too. This went on for much of the afternoon. My son was very proud of me because I am so…

Pros
  • Insects and butterflys NOT included 😡
Cons
  • Limited in its reach and mobility

Great for Catching BATS!

Hi, So I purchased this for the sole purpose of catching Bats that make it into my old house. I rent and the house has always had them every so often. One or two every other week in the hot months. Not a big deal.I typically used a small butterfly net but it wasn't doing the job so well as it had a small opening and the Bat would smack its wings when entering the net to be caught. The 12-24" Diameter now is perfect. Plus the 59" Pole is great.Since purchasing I have caught 2 already! The net is

Pros
  • It's an essential tool for bug enthusiasts, naturalists, and educators alike
Cons
  • May not be suitable for use in areas with high levels of pollution or other environmental hazards

Great toad catcher best in my review

Great Sonoran toad catcher. I had to relocate a few that had made their way into my backyard. Only thing I think could've been a bit better was the rod's ability to extend and stay "locked" into place. It kept twisting loose again.

Pros
  • My grandson loved this for a gift
Cons
  • May not be suitable for use in low light conditions

Best net I've found so far.

The best and most durable net we have ever bought. My kids are butterfly catching machines. No other nets have lasted more than a week. I bought this one because it's connected at the handle and net ring, where the other ones usually break. This one is easy to assemble my 10 year old put it together. The net is the perfect size. The price is definitely on point. I would've paid even more if I realized how well made this was. Thanks for a great product! Will purchase again so all my kids have…

Pros
  • The durable construction ensures a long-lasting lifespan
Cons
  • May not be suitable for use in areas with limited wifi or cellular connectivity

Great for catching cabbage worm butterflies.

Great for catching cabbage worm butterflies which is what I got it for. My review will be based on this as a pest catcher. I have caught probably 10 in the last couple of days since this showed up. It worked best for me by waiting for them to land before swinging it over them. I am happy with this net and expect it to last at least one full season after using it for a few days. The frame is slightly wiggly though and wants to bend back a bit after a few swings at butterflies. The net wants to…

Pros
  • The net is an affordable and effective way to observe and collect insects and butterflies
Cons
  • May not be suitable for use by those with limited time or resources for outdoor activities

Great quality product

Occasionally, hummingbirds will trap themselves inside the roof of the gazebo, and can't figure out how to fly down to get back out. I use this net to gently catch and release them. The net and ring are good quality, and the extension arm is strong and stays in place when tightened.

Pros
  • The net is suitable for capturing a wide range of insect species
Cons
  • May not be suitable for use during certain times of the day or night

Catches my obstinate pigeon when it's bedtime!

It's difficult to get Peggy to willing go to her cage. I decided to try this, and it's great! Sometimes just seeing it come out gets her into her cage. Other times we have to catch her mid flight. The net is very long. She's not afraid of this net at all. She gets out of it very easily when we put her by the cage door. Her little feet never get stuck in the netting :)And I'm a little reluctant to admit it, but sometimes it's fun to catch her! She's fast!

Pros
  • The quality is good..the overall performane is not ideal.
Cons
  • Ring may be too small to capture certain insects or butterflies

Great for Catching Bugs

We try to be kind to nature and if there's a crane fly or moth in the house we prefer to catch it to bring it outside. We had a previous net with a shorter wand. This one is great. It has a nice long wand so you can get into high corners. Also, it swoops through the air quite easily to grab the bug before it vanishes into a curtain or behind a shelf.A downside is the mass of the net is light, so once you get a bug inside it, it's more challenging to get the bug out of the net when you go…

Pros
  • The 12-inch ring is the perfect size for capturing butterflies and insects of all sizes
Cons
  • May not be suitable for use in areas with high noise levels or other distractions

Does the trick in my review

Telescoping handle compacts nicely and extends a good amount. My kids and I were able to snag a couple Carolina grasshoppers that, before, were so elusive. Net material is a bit thin, has started to tear through contact with some of the tougher weeds. Using this to catch grassh

Pros
  • The telescoping handle allows for easy storage when not in use
Cons
  • May not be suitable for use in areas with limited space for movement or storage

Using it for pigeons

I know this isn't the intended use for this net but it's a perfect size and material for me to catch pigeons in my crowded loft. Only problem is that the hoop swivels, and it's not fixed to the pole. Might need some modification.

Pros
  • It's a great tool for teaching children about insect species and their characteristics
Cons
  • May not be suitable for use in areas with limited access to appropriate legal frameworks for capturing and studying insects or butterflies

Solid entry level butterfly net

This is a long butterfly net that makes for a great kid’s toy. It’s not as sturdy as necessary for 2 year olds to play with it, but older kids can use it just fine.

Pros
  • Well built.Metal handle and net rim.Telescoping handle.Easy to use.
Cons
  • Handle may be too flimsy for repeated use

Excellent Net for my opinion

After spending some time with the net over the course of the past few days. I have used it to catch specifically wasps, hornets, and bees. The net has done exceptionally well at it, so far I am at about 35 different species caught including some of the largest European Hornets that have been unable to chew thru the net. This is an excellent net especially for the price. If you need a net to catch some of the insects definitely get it, and customer service on their end has been top notch!

Pros
  • I like this alot. Was easy to assemble. I use when the birds get out of the cage. Easy to catch them.
Cons
  • May not include an attachment for hanging when not in use

It works well, just Fragile

I bought a few of these on here. They are the cheapest I could find for a boy who breaks stuff easily. If this is for butterflies, and or someone who knows how to be gentle with this, it would be a decent value for your money. But the average user, especially for water use, this will not stand up to the pressure needed to drag it through water, the thin metal shaft and head that has 2 hinged areas at around 10 & 2, will bend/break/come apart. It happened to me/us, they replaced one right away…

Pros
  • The long handle allows for quick and efficient capturing of flying insects
Cons
  • May not be suitable for use by those with limited hand-eye coordination or dexterity

Would definitely buy again!

Great gift for kids of any age that love the outdoors. I purchased it thinking we would use it a couple times this summer. The kids have insisted on bringing it on walks and hikes just in case they want to catch and release butterflies or other insects. Easy to store in a hiking pack.

Pros
  • The telescoping handle does not lock tight enough to keep the net from turning in some instances
Cons
  • May not be suitable for catching unique or rare species of insects or butterflies

Worth it despite weakness.

I have an AVID bug hunter! He loved this net! (And I did, too)This isn’t the strongest net. It only lived through one big hunting summer at our house. But it did it’s job perfectly! It was light weight enough for my 5 year old to use it well. We had to convince him he was better off to use it with the handle shorter since his accuracy dropped when it was longer. However, the extra length was the hero of the summer when it allowed us to snag a Western Tiger Swallowtail! Despite it breaking at…

Pros
  • It's a safe and humane way to study and observe insects and butterflies
Cons
  • May not be suitable for use in areas with limited access to potable water or other necessary resources
