Not quite "Parallel "

Junk. Partly rusty, probably due to arrival from China. I'd like to clean them up and use them if they were parallel. But there's a catch. Two equal parallels were not just different sizes. They weren't even the same size from end to end. One of the 1/2 inch parallels measures .4999 throughout. The other is 0.5002 on one end and 0.4993 on the other. You really do get what you pay for. received were pretty good.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Misleading, not parallel and not exact.

I wouldn't call it a "precision parallel set" as nothing is parallel and inaccurate (or accurate). None of the items meet the specifications. For example, a 1 inch pair was 1.0021, 1.0024, 1.0018, and 1.0020. Not parallel and not equal. Vise, they would be fine Only the long side is machined, the short side is not. There are small burrs, mainly on the corners. Do not buy if you do precision machine work.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • weak

Earth? Or shorn? Who knows?

This is the bare minimum you need for thin parallels. Other than that, they match the bar I have. They're pretty parallel, which is good news. However, they're wrapped in gooey cosmoline instead of oil, making cleaning each pair a chore. And they have black oxide on the sides (top/bottom beveled/cut/honed only) that needs to be soaked in oil to prevent rust, so I don't really understand why. Or maybe the black sides are mill scale, and why black oxide? The box is the cheapest blow molded…

Pros
  • Rugged design
Cons
  • Not automatic
