3 flutes are good for a cleaner cut, bits are not.

3 edges are good for a cleaner cut but the blades don't stay sharp for long. I've only used one of these bits on my CNC router, I have no freehand experience.

Longtime Customer: Power Tool Parts & Accessories

I have purchased 5 or more of these ShopBot CNC Attachments. With three flutes it cuts very smoothly and retains sharpness well. On some projects I cut through the Avery vinyl paint before the material. It cuts clean and I can paint and roll with no problems.

I use it to create signs on CNC

I use this router bit in my CNC router, it cuts wood cleanly and without sticking. I've used it with plywood, maple, cherry, and walnut; from softwoods to hardwoods, it produced excellent finishes. I ran the drill at 15,000 rpm and feed rates between 40 and 60 inches per minute. I am very happy with my purchase and it looks like it will last a long time.
