Description of 7.8" E-book ONYX BOOX KON-TIKI 3 1872x1404, E-Ink, 32 GB, package contents: cover and case, black

The 7.8" E Ink Carta Plus screen is one of the most versatile and comfortable displays for portable e-readers, so it''s no surprise that Kon-Tiki series readers are in high demand. All of them are equipped with just such screens - large enough, as well as very contrasting and clear (after all, the pixel density here is 300 ppi). Accordingly, these readers can be used to read both fiction and a wide variety of documents, including many files in DOC, DJVU and PDF formats. Why buy ONYX BOOX Kon-Tiki 3? The screen mentioned above is only one of the many advantages of this device, and it is worth adding that it is combined here with high-quality backlight that does not tire the eyes and is adjustable not only in brightness, but also in color temperature. In addition, the screen here is touch-sensitive, with support for various kinds of gestures that make interaction with the device as comfortable as possible. There is another nice bonus - a protective glass installed at the factory, which reduces the likelihood of damage to the display. The list of other advantages of the ONYX BOOX Kon-Tiki 3 includes a large amount of memory (3/32 GB), a powerful battery (3150 mAh), a USB Type-C port with OTG support, modern Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi modules, as well as the Android operating system 11 with the ability to activate Google Play (but keep in mind that the screen of this device is black and white and rather slow, so it can only partially replace the classic ONYX BOOX Kon-Tiki 3 tablet). In addition, it is worth noting that this reader comes with a convenient and practical cover in the kit, which reliably protects the screen of the reader and at the same time only slightly increases its weight. What is the difference between ONYX BOOX Kon-Tiki 3 and Kon-Tiki 2, Edison, Nova Air 2? 10). There are no other differences between these models, so it makes no sense to switch from Kon-Tiki 2 to Kon-Tiki 3 for the sake of an upgrade. ONYX BOOX Edison strongly resembles Kon-Tiki 3 in terms of characteristics, but is available in a different case, and there is a difference both in terms of design, so in terms of material: the body of the Kon-Tiki 3 is plastic, while the body of the Edison is metal. The Kon-Tiki 3 has a BACK button below the screen, but the Edison doesn''t have it. In addition, Edison is thinner and lighter than Kon-Tiki 3, but, firstly, its battery is less capacious (2000 mAh versus 3150 mAh), and secondly, its case is noticeably heavier, because it is equipped with side scroll buttons. It is also worth noting here that Edison, unlike Kon-Tiki 3, is equipped with two speakers, not one; in addition, Edison has a more powerful processor, but a slightly older version of the operating system. Finally, the ONYX BOOX Nova Air 2 reader is visually almost identical to Edison, but comes without a cover, a slightly more powerful processor and two touchscreens, one of which supports a stylus with 4096 pressure levels, and this stylus is attached to the reader. The screen on the Nova Air 2 is slightly better than the Kon-Tiki 3 and Edison, and thanks to software dithering, it can display the effect of displaying up to 256 grayscale. The version of Android on Nova Air 2 is the same as on Kon-Tiki 3 - the eleventh (but Android 10 is installed on Edison).

The best thing Ive ever used, a great item for everyone!

Changed from 4 to 5 stars, because the book brings pleasure, it is extremely pleasant to use, despite the mini shortcomings. Thanks for the book) Has pros: Very nice thing, beautiful, folded well, works great, live is much better than in the photo, the case is excellent, minimalism packaging is very nice. Convenient and pleasant to use. Its cons: Price, there are broken pixels (10-15 pieces (photo attached) they are not ated, in fact 21.3 GB, it would be nice to indicate this in the…

Impressions from the purchase are good, buy.

The choice of 8 inch readers is small, you can't really clear up (I'm used to this size on the Pocketbook 740 - the most convenient size, 7 inches is small, and 10 is a lot). Therefore, a comparison with PB 740: - the screen of KT-3 is really better - and contrast, and clarity, and backlight, and tactile, and in response to swipes and clicks. - build quality is better (KT-3 has no backlash and has a protective screen, plus PB 740 has poor soft touch plastic, which after a few years both…

Pros
  • 1. Modern display (high resolution, good clarity, good backlight, protective screen). 2. A pleasant tactile thing (the protective screen is cool and the case is well assembled - nothing backlashes). 3. Good case included. 4. Type-C charging.
Cons
  • 1. Expensive. 2. Non-intuitive interface (probably a matter of habit). 3. Built-in readers are not optimal, I think I will install a third-party one.

I am delighted, the product is really worthy.

I compare with previous readers - Caesar and Livingstone. Kon-Tiki 3 is, of course, noticeably better. But my past readers were not stupid either. I just wanted a bigger screen and access to Google Play. I have a subscription to LitRes and I use their application, which was successfully installed and the reading position is normally synchronized with my other devices. In Livingstone, I could not use LitRes because of the old version of the OS. Happy with the choice.

Pros
  • Relatively affordable price, cover included, screen size and resolution, performance, Google Play.
Cons
  • I've been using it for a month and haven't noticed any cons. Unless not everyone is suitable for paging using the screen (there are no buttons). Didn't like the cover. I would like to have a choice of covers for this model (purchase separately). The cover in the same Livingstone looks and feels nicer.
