Great for the price

Works. Not the best quality but better than expected for the price. I've used it successfully to remove valves in an old Wisconsin engine. Great for the "casual" user.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Hard to say

Tight mechanism. at Compressors & Parts

The handle kept coming loose and the mechanism was very tight. I need this for 4 valve springs as a small job is ok but for permanent use you get what you pay for. But it worked for my motorcycle engine.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • ---

The jaws that hold the spring are too soft.

Fast arrival. 2x worked great. The fingers that squeeze the top of the spring are made of a softer metal. They bend very easily. Not quite suitable for performance springs. So I rented a professional high-end instrument.

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Nothing

Complete scrap: air conditioning

Not worth the money. When tightened, the adjustment point and grip do not match at all, and the grip is too flimsy to work with the Sportster 883 valve springs. The curved jaw and pivot cup on the tightened portion fell off on first use. Save yourself the hassle and buy the best

Pros
  • GOLS certificate
Cons
  • Only available in black

Even when tightened the valve stem compressor will try to loosen from the spring assembly on one side or the other, had to do extra welding to make it work. The small pivoting clamping surface on the side of the valve keeps falling out of its seat, which needs to be pushed in. In general, the spring compressor does its job, but not qualitatively, large variations from one side of the spring compressor to the other.

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Long delivery time

It takes a drop to overcome obstacles.

To be honest the spring compressor arrived on time and exactly as advertised. I have worked on a Honda Accord and an Acura MDX and have not been able to find a spring compressor that works well. On these Honda vehicles, the valves are pressed into the heads with limited clearance from the wall and spark plug tube. It takes some pressure for the compressor to compress the spring enough to remove and install the retainers. I cut off some EMT leads to hold the spring down and fished out theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other alternatives
