2000 Cadillac Escalade

Worked great to solve my brake light problem. They would only turn on at certain pressure levels before the switch is changed. After the replacement, the brake lights work perfectly and as they should. It was a little difficult to change, but worth it for safety reasons.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Can't remember

Solved my problem with the cruise control.

I bought this on the advice of a friend. These switches also control cruise control disabling and have their own internal circuitry to do so. If the circuit fails/corrodes/stops working, your brake lights will still be on, but your cruise control will not work. I was able to replace it in ten minutes and my cruise control is working properly again.

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

Perfect replacement part

From the videos I've watched removing and replacing this part looks very easy. I have big hands and there is very little space so I had to do a bit of work to remove and replace this part. The tricky part is removing the spring clip and washer and putting them back in after installing the new part. Once installed the part worked great and now my brake lights work as designed.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Clarity

My brake lights fixed

This works great but damn it was very difficult to get around the steering column to swap it out. ALSO - Note that your old spring clip may fall apart when you remove it to remove the old switch. I was lucky to have a mechanic friend who had it (and even knew where to find it!). Perhaps the easiest way to remove the spring clip is to completely destroy the old switch.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

The part is fine, but not the easiest repair.

Repaired my 1997 Tahoe (brake lights didn't work). I'm 6ft 2in so accessing the brake switch and removing the support brace was NOT easy. There are good videos on YouTube. After the brace was removed, everything was easy. Install a new retaining clip onto the brake switch shaft, and then push it in with your finger. You will need new retaining clips (Dorman 13808) as the original clip will bend when removed.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Almost never

Durable and affordable.

So I'm not a fool, but I don't know much about car repair and the world to compare. I had no problems with that. It was exactly the same as the model my '96 Silverado 4wd used. Got the clamps and he came in right away. I checked it twice and then thrice to see if I did it right because it was easy. The part of the clamp that holds it to the brake has always been solid and undamaged. In fact, I was afraid that I was missing something because I expected more complexity. I wasn't even sure if this

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • There are nuances
