It was great while it lasted

I bought this monitor early in the pandemic when I was starting to work from home and wanted the 'dual monitor setup' that I'm used to at my workplace without the huge expense. The resolution was a bit low but it did the job. The idea that I can take it with me anywhere was great. I would definitely keep this monitor with me when commuting after COVID has passed. Fast forward about 1/2 year later and the monitor shows nothing. The Acer logo loads when I plug it in, but after that it doesn't…

be careful before buying

I agree with the reviews complaining about the lack of usability. This device works with my MacBook Pro. I didn't buy it for that. I bought to use an Android tablet and it is not plug and play for this device. The instructions do not give instructions. I'll keep trying to figure out how to enable this usage but nothing but disappointment from my first night. UPDATE: After my initial check, I was able to get the monitor working with my Huawei Mate 10 Pro phone. It does NOT work with my Asus…

Problems start about 6 months later.

As with other reviewers, I really wanted to love this monitor - and for the first six months or so, I loved it. Pros (from a non-IT user): Ultra light, reasonably durable, decent display quality and price (I only paid about $130 in August 2020). Given the small footprint, it was the perfect second monitor. Cons: Over the past few months I've had issues ranging from difficulty getting a signal ("No Signal" on the display) to screen flickering, screen dimming for a few seconds, and then dimming…

Looks great! Works perfectly!

He is skinny. Easily stowed in a neoprene pouch with Velcro closure. My laptop only has two Thunderbolt (USB-C) ports. So I had to get a "dock" type dongle through which the current flows. The one I have can handle 100 watts. My XPS-13 requires 65W to 85W to charge. You must keep your laptop connected to the network if you use it to extend the laptop display like I do. If you are using it for a desktop application then this is not a problem. That looks great. 1080p display. This allows me to…

Great idea in my review

Having a portable second monitor for my laptop is invaluable. I hold it in portrait mode next to my 15.6 inch Acer Swift 5 laptop and it works great. It's slightly larger than a laptop, just as thick, and almost as heavy. It's not intended for portrait use, so I found a solution that works at home, but might be difficult to replicate when I get back to work. Encoders will love this, Acer please make them for 13.3" and 14" screens in portrait mode. I'll update pretty soon if you're making a…

Great second screen for computers with a USB-C Lightning port.

The screen is very light and quite large. This portable screen is larger than my original laptop screen. I had no problems with the monitor. Others who had problems didn't have the right port on their computers. **Please note that this portable display requires a USB-C Lightning connector - this is NOT the SAME as a regular USB-C connector. It must have a lightning bolt icon next to the port to be considered a Lightning port. **Here's some info from around the web on the differences: Two…

Compatible with Thunderbolt only

This monitor was purchased to serve as a third monitor and ride on my standing desk. From that point of view it works great. Clear image, good viewing angle range and stable image. However, the information implied it was a USB-C input, but didn't specify that it would only work with a Thudberbolt connector. I have a newer laptop with a Thunderbolt docking station and the monitor is connected and working. However, the cable wasn't long enough to work with the desk stand and I bought a good…

Don't do this, but even if you have USB Type-C, it won't work!

Worst monitor I've ever bought, don't buy it! Not compatible with anything! I've tried a few things and nothing works, damn I have USB Type-C but it doesn't work on my laptops, phones etc. Don't do it, but even USB-C to HDMI adapters or converters do won't work. We have money and also time. Wouldn't have given such a bad review if they had clearly stated limited support instead of just saying USB Type-C is plugged in, damn the manual sucks too! Doesn't even work with any other Acer product…

compatibility issue

I was looking forward to using it on my laptop and/or mini itx gaming pc I was building. However, my great idea of simply adapting a USB Type C to an HDMI adapter didn't work so well. I'm still trying to figure out if I can even use this thing. For example, what does Type C use anyway? Almost nothing I buy. If there was at least an HDMI port or something similar, the thing would be worth the money. I won't know how good it is until I use it haha. >:(

If it works, it's cool

But after 6 months it stopped working - the screen flickers and turns off completely no matter what device I use it on. I sent it to Acer and they said "no problem after 24 hour stress test". I brought it home and immediately it started flickering again. I paid for shipping to Acer and it was sent back in less than a day. Poor customer service and it seems the USB connector is loose so how can I wiggle it a bit.

Very good, works well as a portable second monitor for my work laptop. The Type-C connection works perfectly. Unintuitive menu system.

USB-C only: my review

For what it is, the product serves its purpose. The problem is that it only works with a direct USB-C (output) to USB-C (input) connection. No adapters and alternative methods help. Acer support will tell you this themselves, but apparently they didn't bother to include it in the product description. So far I've seen it work with a Macbook Pro and a few other phones (LG, Pixel, OnePlus). I couldn't get it to work with a desktop PC or Raspberry Pi 4. It's a great product if only it weren't…

Make sure it really is compatible

Believe it or not, this monitor is not compatible with my new ACER laptop. Something with Type-C connectivity. Hands down the best portable monitor

Great portable monitor. I haven't found any cons in using this monitor for 3-4 months yet. Colors are vibrant and the monitor doesn't drain the battery quickly. Very easy and simple to use.

Disappointing waste of my time and money

I bought this item to use as a second screen for my laptop. I work from home and on the go and the second screen makes my work easier. This thing worked fine for about four days. Suddenly, the OSD settings started blinking and changing, and no button press could stop them. I couldn't even turn it off - I literally had to unplug it for it to stop. After turning it back on, it ran for about five minutes before it started up again. The "manual" is far from useless - it doesn't provide any…

The monitor you want to love but can't

The monitor is very portable and good in its features. If you can just get this thing to work. I connected to my high performance gaming laptop via USB 3.1 C and could not get a signal. I bought Thunderbolt to USB-C and still no connection. I've tried other USB 3.1 connections without much success. I've tried this on a Lenovo laptop and several other systems to no avail. It is obvious that there is no standardization in the USB signal. I think it came prematurely from Acer Engineering. Forget…

Portability is key

I would rate the quality of this monitor as fair + as a second monitor for my Macbook Pro. But the fact that it's amazingly light and portable, and comes with a quality protective case (making it a really handy monitor) is amazing. And for the price, an absolute bargain. I don't always have access to my home desktop, including a bulky but beautiful second screen. I also don't often have access to a client's large screen projection in a conference room.
