Great MoCA adapter for TIVO Roamio Basic and nearby media devices

The previous owners did not run network cabling throughout the house and there is no way to run network cabling in our finished basement. However, there are multiple cable outlets in every room, so MoCA adapters will come in very handy. We have a home business and our old ZyXEL110V powerline adapters are fast enough for network printing and automatic backup to a home server. While Netflix streaming worked fine on 110V (or even over WiFi), higher quality home video streaming from our home server

Pros
  • Supports 270Mbps full PHY speed/175Mbps data rate. Products with "Fast Ethernet" cannot reach this speed.
Cons
  • A newer model could have been chosen

These Moka bridges work great and are way better than Wi-Fi. I had a Wi-Fi bridge to connect wired ethernet from an upstairs router to a downstairs home entertainment center. Very unreliable and Netflix would have fallen badly. I bought a couple of moca single port bridges from actiontek and since then everything has been running smoothly and quickly. I routed the entertainment rig through one of the bridges and then through a 4 port switch to allow wired access to the TV, Xbox, TiVo and amp…

Pros
  • Ideal for home theaters with up to four Gigabit Ethernet ports. Simultaneously connect your Blu-ray player, DVR, game console and smart TV.
Cons
  • Seniors

Maximum data rate indoors using RG59 daisy-chain coaxial cable

Using three ECB3500T01 ACTIONTEC coaxial home theater network adapters in a daisy-chained RG59 coaxial system in my vintage 1990 home, I was able to get between 179 and 192 Mbps (measured with the free NetWorx bandwidth monitoring tool) for both boot, and to boot the DVD ISO file from my QNAP TS-469L NAS system via Windows 7 file transfer. I am using 3GHz ports and a single 3GHz bidirectional splitter in daisy chain instead of the old pre-digital 900- MHz devices and uses RG6 extension cables…

Pros
  • Automatically detects and connects to service provider's MoCA network.
Cons
  • Expensive
