I don't think the filter does anything other than make the water taste bad. I bought these to filter out the chlorine taste but they don't work. They're 10 times heavier than the regular ones I've used, but they end up doing nothing.

I use these before water goes into my softener. Definitely cheaper than what I paid for at Lowe. Designed for 3 months but I change them every 45 days. They work - the dirt underneath them when I change them is proof of that.

We have a small summer home in Colorado that is well watered. Well water used to taste bad and we bought bottled water to drink. After purchasing a set of activated carbon water filters 5 microns, the taste of the water immediately improved. In fact, water tastes better than bottled water. Stop buying bottled water. Very happy with the purchase.

I've tried 2 other filters I bought from Meijer and my water still tasted awful. I installed one of these activated carbon filters and after 1/2 hour I had great drinking water again. Now I can fill up my emergency water jugs and see how long it takes before I get crappy tasting water again. Does anyone know how long these filters last? I'll definitely be happy with my purchase if they last at least 3 months and hopefully longer.

These filters are perfect for my 10" Pentex cases and I use 2 in series for the fridge supply. High flow and no chlorine taste or smell, which is the main concern of my San Diego tap water. Fantastic price for 6 filters. As mentioned, be careful, the o-rings will stay in place during installation and you're done. The only question is how long does it take to change them, but the fridge is quite small so I'm hoping for at least 6 months.

I bought a pack of these earlier. They worked great. I have very bad water taste and lots of sediment. With these filters the water was great. Then I bought a second pack. The first filter worked great. When it came time to change the filter, the next one was bad. Coal got into my lines. I changed it again. After almost 200 gallons of wasted water, it's still full of carbon dust. I don't know what to do now.
