The nurse is here. the temporal artery will always be.

The nurse is here. The temporal artery is always more accurate than oral stimulation, unless your patient has recently been outside and you (read: your technician) can pinpoint the position of the temporal artery. As for temperature accuracy, tests on much more expensive machines at my institution have shown very good results. It was just more comfortable on a busy floor sometimes, especially during flu season.

I really like this thermometer

As a nurse I'm a bit of a snob with thermometers. I really like this thermometer, especially for the price. I have a feeling this will get you pretty accurate readings, at least compared to all the others that can cost you an arm and a leg and still give questionable results. Who would have thought that buying an accurate thermometer could be so difficult? I don't like that you have to wait so long between measurements to get it working, but that's a small price to pay for an accurate…

Cons
  • I won't say anything

1) I have arthritis in my thumbs and after many tries I could not remove the battery cover. I had to ask a neighbor to open the battery door for me. 2) I couldn't get the right temperature with this and compared the results with my old digital thermometer under my tongue. 3) On Thursday I was at the doctor's appointment and asked them to check the accuracy etc and I had the box and the instructions. The thermometer doesn't work properly and we didn't use the Celsius scale. The temp was between…

Haven't used it for a long time so can't speak of long term use. For now, this is a great little oral thermometer for home use. Pros: - 8 second display - Quality flexible tip meter, comes with a hard plastic cap (and a set of disposable probe covers for safer use) - Display large enough for older members of our family to use. Shows the temperature in green for temperatures below 99.5 degrees and in red for 99.6 and above. I'm not sure if this feature is necessary, but it's different from other

Inaccurate waste of money

My husband has CKD and is on peritoneal dialysis at home. So we take his vitals four times a day. This thermometer constantly showed its temperature of 99 degrees or higher. His temperature is constantly 97 over 98. Fever can mean peritonitis and quick death. However, since he had no other symptoms and we just had a bad thermometer, we waited a day or two for the dialysis clinic nurse to get us a second thermometer. With both, this thermometer constantly shows two to three degrees more. Neither
