I'm 6'190 with a 33" waist but thanks to squats and CrossFit I have bigger quads and glutes. I reduced the size to large and they fit comfortably (I have another medium sized pair, still fits well but tighter and I think the bottom will stretch and some show through). So personal preference comes down to how much compression you want. I've used them for both Crossfit and Hot Yoga. They don't bully or go crazy.
