Basically useless. Bad sound and volume control function didn't work.

Others mentioned poor sound quality and I assumed they were just being picky. No, it's bad. Like a 64kbps MP3 from around 1999, bad. I played around with some settings but it was just awful. Also, the ARC/CEC volume function didn't work at all with my Samsung TV (NU8000). Sorry but it's a swing and a miss. Instead, I opted for the soundbar.

Terrible sound quality

Terrible sound quality. Immediately after connecting to the TV, I wanted to go back to the TV's built-in speakers. The upper range above 1kHz is most noticeable - it sounds like an overly compressed MP3, something you can get from a cheap camcorder. The middle and low frequency ranges are mixed up and not reproduced exactly. If you have tiny cheap speakers you might not notice them but otherwise stay away from this product. Not worth the terrible sound quality. I connected it to a Samsung 4K TV

Poor sound quality

I've been using this ARC DAC for about 6 months to connect a Samsung 4K TV to an old Yamaha A-760. All along I tolerated a clearly noticeable lack of frequency response. I occasionally use Spotify on my TV for casual listening, and while my expectations for this type of experience are relatively low, it has been downright frustrating with this DAC. I expect even those who don't understand the minutiae will find that this DAC sounds bad. Since it was 2020 I figured that cheap DACs had already…
