Great little oven gadget

Great item for your oven! I dreamed about this little gadget for a long time and finally bought it. ๐Ÿ‘ I suspected that my oven in my apartment was well over 25-50 degrees, since everything I cooked or baked took much longer than the instructions stated, or because I usually cook something. I had to put things back in for extra time and increase the oven temperature, which was frustrating to say the least. So I preheated the oven to 350 degrees and after 25 minutes I put (hung) this thermometer

Looks absolutely accurate

I was skeptical about this thermometer at first as I also bought an Admetior freezing thermometer and the needle got stuck at 58 degrees. Regardless, I put this thermometer in my oven and set the oven to 425 degrees to bake my pizza. But the thermometer read about 250 when it should be 425. So I thought. It turns out my oven is taking a lot longer to heat up than I thought because when the pizza was baking, the thermometer right on the stove read 425 degrees. Button. Not only does this littleโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Evaluating the Accuracy of my Oven Thermometer

I wanted to try and evaluate the accuracy of my oven temperature monitor and rate how well the oven is holding the selected temperature. I bought this Admetior thermometer and another cheaper model to compare each to an oven thermometer. I put two store bought thermometers in the oven and set them to 350 degrees. I allowed the temperature to reach 350 degrees (based on the oven thermometer) and left it at that temperature for 15 minutes. Then I compared these three readings. The Admetiorโ€ฆ

Comparing 4 Oven Thermometers

I bought four different oven thermometers to test: * Ademtior kitchen oven thermometer http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003EDY97U * Taylor oven thermometer http://www .amazon. com/gp/product/B00004XSCA* Rubbermaid Commercial Stainless Steel Oven Thermometer http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005KDEIZ0* Taylor TruTemp Graduated Oven Thermometer (from BedBath&Beyond) Ranges temperatures from 300 to 450 degrees Fahrenheit, occasionally allowing oven and thermometers to cool down completely between

Pros
  • Consistent Test Results
Cons
  • Clarity
