easy to use, even a 9 year old could get a spark!

I bought this for use by my Girl Scout troop while camping. The girl are ages 5-10 and found it surprisingly easy to get a fire started without needing a lighter or matches, real eco camping. Love the little burlap bag for keeping it together.

Pros
  • Nicely made piece of survival gear
Cons
  • Does not include instructions for use

Bought Another - Great Product - Emergency Bag - a MUST

Bought another - that should tell you what we thought about the product and experience. This product was of the quality expected and the price was - relatively - fair.I am happy with the product, and the service, and the delivery. Our "emergency travel' bags are better, fuller, and now well outfitted.Good product. Good seller.

Pros
  • Easy to use. Well built and will last for a long time
Cons
  • Unsuitable for cooking food directly over the flame

Well built works as it should

Well built for the cost. Works as it should. Takes a little prep work to make it work but not a big learning curve. It’s a great compliment to you’re fire kit just remember a bic works great too

Pros
  • If your purchasing this buy extra rope and it's perfect. I even wet the rope and it still lit
Cons
  • Requires ample natural or dry materials to maintain a fire

One of the coolest things I have ever owned

I purchased this on a whim. I have never lit a fire with flint and steel before. I generally get the wick to light after 1 or 2 strikes max. Add fatwood to this, and you will never have problems starting a fire.A few suggestions for using it:1) fraying is key. It lights the wick so much easier.2) after you have lit it, all you have to do is pull the wick into the tube to snuff it.3) after using it, use the striker to scrape off the residual carbon, and this helps to "refray" it.4) try to bend…

Pros
  • Totally love this thing! I do wish I'd gotten the bigger one though. I'd recommend the bigger one
Cons
  • May not work at higher altitudes

Awesome piece of gear!

This Ferro system is by far one the best options for multi fire purposes! Not only is is amazing; but after purchasing you can submit a video and get an extra/replacement wick. This wick came freaky fast after submitting the video. The very first time I tried to use it I got the wick lit with just one scrape of the rod. I love this think so far

Pros
  • The spark it creates is so intense, I thought it was the 4th of July.
Cons
  • Takes up valuable space in a backpack or survival kit

worked perfectly ! i will probably order more of them . simple and takes the frustration out of trying to start a fire in a primitive way . A MUST HAVE FOR EMERGENCY KITS OR BUGOUT BAG !

Pros
  • High quality product
Cons
  • Striker may become damaged with repeated use

Great utem to have on hand!

I love this fire starter. Now we can get rid of that awful starter fluid and even I can get a fire going at a moments notice. Definitely worth every cent!

Pros
  • I like it a lot. It's so easy to use. I'm going to get another one
Cons
  • May not work in extremely wet conditions

Almost perfect. for my opinion

Everything about this product is legit except the sorry excuse for a striker that it comes with. The striker is completely garbage and useless. The edges on the scraper are not sharp enough to get a good spark. I ended up using a corona sharpener as seen in the photo as a scraper and now this thing is perfect and works every time. I will also note that this ferro rod that it comes with is a beast but definitely on the harder side especially against the ones made by 4db. Overall i think this…

Pros
  • emergency camping and hiking fire starter
Cons
  • Can be difficult to use if hands are wet or sweaty

Simple to use, quality product.

We’ll made, with great fit and finish. You can tell they care about making a quality piece. Easy to use, easy to light especially after you get the end lit the first time. Great addition to your camping gear.

Pros
  • WILL NOT FAIL YOU – You get 3+ hours of continuous burn time or thousands of single-strike uses, and the fire starter tool is highly effective even if it’s been soaking in water.
Cons
  • May not work if striker becomes damp or soaked

Perfect for the beginner survivalist

I purchased this ferro rod for the wife’s survival go bag, and it is perfect for not only the beginner survivalist, but expert also. I have never had an issue starting a fire with my regular ferro rod, I have done so in dessert, snow and rain forest environments, but this is a great option for people who don’t know how to gather kindling or starter materials in order to start a fire, because it provides it for you. Simple to use, practical and really will be a life saver if needed. No go bag…

Pros
  • Easy to light, easy to control flame, works in damp weather.
Cons
  • Difficult to use with gloves on

pretty cool fire starter

I purchased the smaller version of this fire starter. I needed something to keep in my camping gear. I love the wick system as it means you always have tinder to start your fire. This was the reason i purchased this particular fire starter. The instructions say it has a serrated edge to help fray the wick but mine was completely smooth. Both photos on amazon as well as the included instructions both say it has the serrated edge but it does not. I had to fray out the wick by hand (which wouldn't

Pros
  • Fluff up the end of the rope, with in a strike or two the rope is lit..it puts out a great flame
Cons
  • Can be tricky to use in windy conditions

It works but with two primary flaws.

This is a very cool and simple concept and had it not been for two flaws this was a five star item. The first issue is the striker that comes with it, good luck getting the rope lit with this thing. I was able to do it but it required a lot of energy and patience to finally get it lit. Only once was able to get it lit within ten strikes on the ferro rod. This can be solved by having a better striker on hand but it would have been nice if the one provided worked better. The second issue which…

Pros
  • Haven't tried it wet, but it works right out of the box.
Cons
  • Potential for damaging or burning of clothing or gear

Great product at a great price

Just went camping and it was surprisingly easy to use. It's sturdy and well made. It took me less than a minute and thirty seconds to get a good fire going every time I used it.

Pros
  • This is the best fire starter.
Cons
  • Limited durability over time
