This is my second one. I sit at the computer quite a bit and it really helps prevent hand fatigue. My old one lasted many years before I had to replace it. I can't think of anything he needs more.

I have an optical mouse that works fine on most surfaces without a mouse pad. However, we recently added an outside table with a slatted wood top, so I needed a solution that would allow the mouse to work without stuttering when crossing gaps in the boards. I'm not a gamer, but I *guess* it might be useful for those folks too. A side note: I've tried several of these mouse pads that have a built in write stop. This one turned out to be the best. My old one lasted a good 10 years so I finally bought a few more and got one for my wife. She likes it too. Gel of good density and shape. Many other pads I've tried were too small and/or too thick so they didn't cushion my wrist very well.

My dad insists on using the Kensington TrackMan mouse instead of the Evoluent mouse which I love for everyday use.
