Razor-Sharp Bits Turned Rusty Too Soon!

Based on my observations, the Amana Tool Carbide Aluminum Up Cut Router Bits may have a sharp blade but they definitely lack durability. Within few uses, the bit was covered with signs of rust and ended up damaging the material. This was a complete disappointment as I had high hopes after reading their Industrial and Scientific description.

Pros
  • It's sharp and cuts fine.
Cons
  • It rusts easily and lacks durability.

Dull after a few yards

I used it in a hand router to cut decking aluminum laminate countertops. It cut about 4 feet cleanly, then dulled and didn't cut again. .

Pros
  • Spiral
Cons
  • Quick Instructions

Looks like a quality tool

I have now cut about 60 feet (.040 inch) of aluminum sheet using an MDF template and a small hand router (Bosch Colt). Roll smooth and cut well. After a total of 60 linear feet of cutting aluminum sheet through all grades of aluminum from 2024-0 to 7075, inspection under a magnifying glass showed little to no wear, and the cutting tool got a little warm inside the softest aluminum . Running Blade 2024-T3 and harder at a feed rate of about 12 inches per minute, I found I could go 12 to 18 inches

Pros
  • Router parts and supplies
Cons
  • Expensive
