Worth every penny and more

I have to say I'm quite impressed with the performance of this HT, there are a few things that need improvement but overall it's worth every penny and then some I strongly recommend creating them yourself. Access point instead of buying ready-made and overpriced

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • Poorly thought out

You can even modify it for GMRS and 1.25 meters

Good radio and with a little youtube search I figured out how to open it up and extend the transmission range where it can transmit on the same channel it receives along with 1.25 meters and even GMRS! "AT_Options-v7" prompt, although you risk ruining the radio if you try this!

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • The list will be long.

Better than expected

I was surprised by the good quality and performance. Programming for DMR and analog FM is easy to program using the APRS software available from the Bridgecom Systems website. It works with the programming cable that comes with the radio. Voice quality reports from both the local repeater and my ZUMspot duplex are good.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Appearance

Great Portable Radio

This is my favorite portable radio. The CMS software is ok and could use some improvement, but the software is functional and does the job. The battery life is better than I expected. I recommend this radio for DMR and as a portable general purpose radio. I would like it to be approved for commercial use like the other Anytones, but that could change.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Available in black only

It was very difficult to set up without a computer but there are some YouTube videos to help you with that. Getting a DMR ID is one of the easiest parts, but I've found that there's only one DMR repeater in my area, and that's UHF. You really need to order a new antenna, but it doesn't work very well, but I bought a Nagoya NA-77115" and the cheapest mag-mound antenna on Amazon. Warning: It's great for TX APRS BUT it projects sound that sends packets to the maximum volume and it can't be set…

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Only available in white

I can't get 12 hours of my life back.

Please see how many videos try to show you how to program this radio. Too bad they offer a university course on radio programming with quizzes and all. This is far from practical if this is your first DMR radio. Beyond the learning curve. I programmed this radio to low once and saw the RX go out every 5 seconds or so. I tried both local DMR repeaters in Digi and it also disabled listening to the local NOAA station in analog mode (side by side alongside the humble Feng for comparison, mind you).

Pros
  • Quality Construction
Cons
  • Compatibility

You get "university course for free "

The guys in China made a great product for the most part. There is not as much spatter as other China radios. Trying to enter plugin code or whatever and a constant "Range Error" is ridiculous. Every Sunday I tried to get this thing to work but it didn't work. The radio has a fairly clear spectrum for a Chinese radio. Just note that if you load the current plugin and fire it at the radio, expect a "Range Error" message and it won't work. When these guys sell you a radio and claim it involves…

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Nice Radio on Portable Audio & Video

If you're looking for a radio that works right out of the box, don't give up. You'll have to spend a little time learning all the ins and outs of programming before you can do anything with it. You need to be good with computers and learn new concepts to achieve this. You can *may* program this radio without a computer, but then you might as well have fun building a car using only Ikea instructions. Other than that, there are hours and hours of YouTube videos on this radio. There are also FB…
