Description of ๐Ÿงฝ Aquaneat Sponge Filter Set for Fry, Betta, Shrimp Nano Fish Tank - Pack of 4

Sponge filter provide both mechanical and bio filtration, also, the air infusion chamber produces minute bubbles which increase the oxygen solubility. Easy to set up& clean: simply install an airline into the unit and turn on the air pump, simply rinse and squeeze sponge in tank water. Recommend tank size: up to 60 gallon, excellent for small size fish like dwarf cichlid, guppy, killifish etc. or for hatcheries, maternity tanks, and fry tanks, as the filter produces minimal current and has almost no way to suck the fish through the filter. Dimension: 4.5"D X 8.0"H. Includes: 4 pcs of sponge filter.

Unbeatable price for a quality product.

Great sponges and can't find a price. The base is weighted and they feel solid. Sponge material is ok, I wish of course. I modified them to accept an air stone. You can't go wrong with these sponge filters.

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Not sure

Good value for money but you need to add an air stone.

Really hard boiled water even with my tiny Uniclife pump turned all the way up until I cut out the center and added 3/4 inch to each cylindrical spout and that solved the problem and turned on the suction little increased.

Pros
  • good stuff
Cons
  • dodgy

Excellent additional filtration and ventilation.

Easy to use. Place 1 in each of my aquariums for extra filtering. They also work well as aerators. Small enough to not take up much space in my 10 gallon baby tank and strong enough to handle my larger 29 gallon tanks. I use 2 of these filters in my 55 gallon. For the price and efficiency, it fully justifies itself.

Pros
  • Easy to set up
Cons
  • Negative impression

strong inner plastic

Thin plain foam filter with strong inner plastic. Taking off a star to provide a clear hose that will not fit powerheads or standard hard hose accessories. The sponge filter fits standard 1" rigid hoses, but is not included with this sponge filter (must be purchased separately). Easy to disassemble and clean.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Some defects

Had to change it by adding an air stone

Ok if you buy one of these be prepared to change it by adding an air stone. I cut out the inner tube and thread the tube through one of the slots on the top to get air stone into a basket. Otherwise this filter will not work, the air pump produced only a negligible amount of bubbles without the addition of Aeroston. So just bad design to say from the start the filter now works perfectly with the extra bubbles the air stone produces.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Some bugs

Does the job but not for 20 gallons as described

Did the job for my 10 gallon tank that I only have Betta fish in. However, 2 of them wouldn't handle my 20 gallon tank with 6 gears and 10 neon tetras (all young and small). I decided to order sponge filters from another supplier and to my surprise their 20 gallon sponge filters were about 50% larger than this one. after changes) I would recommend this product for an underfilled 10 gallon tank.

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • Vanish

Sponge filters love

are great they are high quality and great value. Updated 01/2021. I've changed my mind about these filters. They're inexpensive and they work, but there are better options out there. I find that sponges have pores that are too small and require too much cleaning. After a few months of use, the air vents in the base of the stand were also clogged with limescale and I had to cut out the plastic air hose included in the riser. Some sponges also begin to break down after a few years of use. Theโ€ฆ

Ideal for a small aquarium.

I woke up one morning and found a lot of koi eggs in our pond. The koi were already eating caviar, so we collected as many as we could and made a "frying tank" out of a large plastic container and air stones. In a few days we had hundreds of little fry. I needed an aquarium filter that doesn't suck in young fish. Bought a sponge filter and found it worked very well for my purpose. The filter did not pull the young fish into the sponge. In fact, the young fish liked to eat from a sponge. I soonโ€ฆ

Excellent filtration at an incredible price; Ignore negative ratings

I am 49 years old and have been doing aquaristics since I was six years old. The manager at my local aquarium shop talked me into buying a sponge filter after years of using in-ground, canister and hanging filters. The 4 pack deal was too hard to miss. I currently use one as my only filter source for 29 gallons stocked with about 30 fish - 10 each of tiger barbel, sicklefish and zebrafish. Are you wondering why fish shops almost universally use sponges in their aquariums and trust hundreds ofโ€ฆ
